Howth Golf Club
[Co. Dublin]
Situated in one of the most idyllic settings amidst the Hill of Howth, Howth Golf Club offers spectacular views over Dublin Bay, South towards Wicklow and North over the islands of Ireland's Eye and Lambay as far as the Cooley and Mourne Mountains. The golf course is just 40 minutes away from Dublin city centre by car.
Founded in 1916 the Heathland Links course was designed by the renowned golfer and course architect James Braid, a 5 times winner of "The Open" Golf Championship who can count the design of the prestigious Kings and Queens Courses at Gleneagles amongst his greatest achievements. James was well known for including dog leg design golf holes in his course designs and the 5th hole in particular is an excellent example of how he blended a great golf hole into the unique Howth Heathers. The exceptional views from the 16th tee are worthy of mention in any golf guide.
See how many other golf course locations you can identify whilst you plot your way around the 18 very different holes that make Howth Golf Club unique. Some say 16 golf courses are visible, others mention 23 courses- you decide. There are only a handful of Golf Clubs in Ireland who could make this claim - it makes our members extremely proud of the uniqueness of our own special place overlooking Dublin Bay
Howth Golf Club is the perfect blend of old and new. Traditional and modern trends have helped maintain the character of the golf course originally envisaged by James Braid, a special place to play golf we are sure he would be proud of today.
